Thursday Thirteen #5

#5 Thirteen Things I Like About My Kid's School

While I know it's the 100th Thursday 13 day I've just been way too busy this week to sit down at the computer and find 13 TT that I have really enjoyed. So - you're stuck with 13 Things I like about my kid's school.

1. Largest class has 14 students in it.

2. They have lots of play time.

3. During lunch they have a whole hour in which to eat, play, or join in a club - like choir, computers, or sports.

4. My son can take guitar lessons AT school.

5. My daughter was able to start school at 4. LOL

6. They learn all sorts of cool history. Ask my 7 year old about Romans and you'll get an ear full.

7. It is such a small school that every child knows everyone.

8. The grounds are beautiful. They have this gigantic tree called The Magic Tree that you can go inside and climb around.
This is Jared inside the tree.

9. They perform in all sorts of plays/musicals/speeches and every child participates.

10. They take a class called Religious Studies and learn about other religions each term. While I'm sure sometimes it is on a biased slant I still think it is important that they are able to learn basics of other religions.

11. They wear uniforms and I don't have to buy very many clothes for outside of school.

12. They get a lot of scattered holiday time with Term breaks and 1/2 term breaks - makes for visiting other countries/sites around here easy.

13. And my number 13? They go to school from 8:45-4:00!!!

What wonderful small classes! There is no viable private option here in Israel and we are very grateful that my son's first grade class will have *only* 27 students - most schools have 36 for first grade and up to 40 later!

I love that they learn about other religions as well.

Happy TT.

The schools in Ireland are very similar, although 'breaks' during the day are shorter.

My two eldest girls attended a private school in England. I think there was no more than 20 in their classroom. The uniform was lovely, too!

Sounds like a great school. Nice numbers in the classes. I also love the idea of kids wearing uniforms. Great list. Happy 100th TT Celebration!

How awesome that they don't have to get up at the crack of dawn. Mine starts K this year, and has to start at 7:50 AM!

Isn't it wonderful when you find a school "match" like that? Sounds wonderful!

I remember the elementary public school I went to (now I realize that you went to private school) and it used to be a fun times. We would have recess, and play outside the playground, sing songs etc. But now these days, school isn't like that anymore. The teachers are more stric with the students schoolwork then just letting them have fun and play. And I really feel bad for students not being able to have so much fun like I use to. What happen to those old days? *shrug*

Cute picture of your son Jared :) And thanks for visiting my blog - Happy TTs and have good day

All my kids will be going to public school next year and I am not sure how I will hold up with them having large class sizes. Sounds like your kids go to a great school!

Small classes/schools are so great! You know your child knows everyone and that they are getting individual attention, no one gets lost in the shuffle! It's a nice bonus that there are beautiful grounds and lots of holiday time, that's one thing my British hubby misses about when he lived/worked in England vs. here, the holiday time!

Small classes would be wonderful. We are overloaded in our district. We are taking one of our kids out to do public school online.
Thanks for visiting my TT!

My kids' school was overloaded by 150 students this past year. Just finding a spot in the parking lot was a joke. Thankfully, they just finished a new school, so this year should be better. I hope. :-) Happy TT!

it's probably going to be a bit different when you get back in "the states", isn't it?

it sounds like a great school - and i love that they did Joseph!

That is a great list and things I would be looking for in a school. I thought I commented yesterday, but I know there was one or two that wouldn't let me comment so this may have one of them. Thanks for visiting my post.

Very different here in the States. I love the idea of smaller classrooms.

Your children sound like they are very lucky to be attending such a wonderful school.

I like my small classes because it is assured that children can get individual attention everytime. New to your site! Will be reading for more!
