Free Advice!

I know that is just what you came here for. But here it is: Don't take a job where the only person that actually knows what is going on is leaving the week you are hired.

Yep - that's what I did. The woman who ran the office left to pursue her dream and there are 2 other women that took over her job. I have been in the building several times in the last week and the door is closed, the office is empty. The promise of "Jane" being on hand to help me get everything done has come up empty as well. I've done all of my paperwork and then I'm told that I'm not in the system. I track down someone who might know and I'm given a phone number in Germany with the hopes they can help me. Now I'm stuck with a few more things to do but a 3 day weekend ahead of me - so no time to do it. Slowly and surely I WILL get it done.

Just wanted to let you know, I will be away from my usual commenting for 2 weeks. I'll be cruising the Panama Canal and I hope to be able to Blog from there. (But you never know!) Check out www.dackelprincess.com starting Tuesday (Sept 13) for two weeks and you never know what you might find!
See you when I get back.

How come you're getting a three day weekend?

Sorry you're back in the world of systems. You could be at home eating cherry bon-bons with the rest of us. However, now you will be able to buy more toys from China for Christmas. That is a real bonus!

Hope you have a FUN. relaxing weekend!

Wish I would have read this before I took some of my past jobs! This kind of thing always happens to me too! In my current job no one knows what's going on...we all just make it up as we go. It's mutual chaos and I suppose we thrive on it!

Good luck with everything!

YAY, for 3 day weekends! I totally forgot the kids had no school Monday!

I am so sorry things are off to a rocky start! Hopefully things will go more smoothly after you've settled in, but thanks for the advice.

About a month ago after talking with my husband, we decided it was time for me to go back to work I'd mentioned it, and I had hoped the manager would have gotten back to me sooner, but he finally called me, and my first day is Monday. I'll let you know what my first day is like! :)

Enjoy your weekend.

So how did it all pan out and is it weird to have a job in a foreign country?
