Thursday Thirteen #8

#8 Thirteen Places I had to eat at before returning to the UK

I was just in the States for a month and won't be returning for at least 9 months. I had to make sure and eat at all my favorite places to tide me over for that time.

1. Wendy’s - This was the first place we went – straight for the Big Bacon Classic

2. Rubio’s Fish Tacos – I had this more than once. Mmmm the Pesky Combo.

3. Taco Bell – We made a few runs for the border as well.

4. Red Lobster – Couldn’t taste a thing as my mouth was still numb from the dentist.

5. Fazoli’s – Quick Italian food – good for when you’re hungry and can’t eat another Big Bacon Classic

6. Stuart Anderson’s – We always go here with my sister in law. It was yummy as usual.

7. Olive Garden – my niece works there so we took her with us and got the employee discount.

8. Applebee’s – we went here for lunch. My father in law wanted to go to Denny’s – I vetoed that. The oriental chicken wrap was way better than any lunch item at Denny’s.

9. Ihop – can’t leave all the good food for dinner. There wasn’t a single breakfast served with black pudding OR cooked tomato.

10. Claim Jumper – The food was great but our service sucked. Who brings a 10 year old a birthday dessert and then just walks away? We all waited for a song but they never came back.

11. Quizno’s – I was craving a turkey bacon guacamole for 4 days before I finally had one in Barstow.

12. Don Jose’s – our favorite Mexican restaurant in Southern California. Two taco combo one chicken and one shredded beef.

13. Red Robin – this is where I ate my last meal. A bacon, guacamole, and swiss burger. If it wasn’t 3am and I wasn’t in England I would go have another one right now!!

LOL! I so know what you mean. I am a retired military wife. My husband just retired october of last year.

Anyway when we got back from our Germany tour...

We went straight to SONIC! I absolutely love sonic. I like every place that you listed.

Happy T13!

We are so spoiled here! You can get almost anything to eat at almost any hour! I'm surprised you didn't mention White Castle Hamburgers -- I hear that one alot (but not from people with coronary artery disease!!!)
Hope you enjoyed your trip over the pond and will return soon!!
Happy TT

I love Wendy's! Too bad there are no branches here in Dubai!

I have lists like that too whenever I go back to the States!

I've never even seen a Quizno's, but a turkey bacon guacamole combo sounds good to me.

You and I must have swapped places. The cutie and I indulged all our food fancies in jolly 'ol - bangers and mash, yorkshire puds, chip butties, worcester sauce and smoky bacon crisps, and cream teas [minus the tea, ummm, yup, just the scone, jam and clotted cream please :-)].

Love Don Jose's and where I am now, there are no good taco joints ;-(

Yes, posting at 4 AM on my blog makes you an automatic groupie. That's some T13 dedication!

Sounds like a culinary feast you had while here; I'm sorry you wasted good seafood on a numb mouth, though. The memory of the taste and feel of good seafood is enough to get you through the next nine months!

Be safe in your travels!

OMG girl, I need to send you care packages from some of these places when you get back to the UK. SO not fair for you to miss out. LOL

Yes, it's a fun list. I would have been upset about the lack of a birthday song too!

Okay, now I'm hungry. I admit it, I'm always hungry. What a great list and I'm sorry that the birthday song never came. That is so wrong. Have a great TT. :)

OMG, I haven't had a Bacon Guacomole Swiss Burger from Red robin in forevah'! Now my mouth is watering, and Rubios, there is nothing that compares to their Fish tacos.

When you look up at my Navibar at the top of my page , I changed the tab from "Places I Go" to My BlogRoll, you'll find your link there.

jeez-i was trying to comment on this last night and today, but i was using a diff browser and it was acting up. anyways, wendy's is good, taco hell can give a bit of a$$ fire lol, ain't been to red lobster in ages, olive garden salad and breadsticks yum, applebee's has a good lunch pick-a-pair, i'd take denny's over ihop anyday w the exception of the denny's that's here in the next town, and the rest well i don't know lol. i did have claim jumper frozen lasagna once lol shame on those arses for not singing a happy bday song. my kids always chose chevy's mexican restaurant for their bdays cuz you get a sombrero, a free bday dessert, AND a song.

So... for a while I had an english boyfriend and was considering the possibility of living there. I went over for 5 weeks and one of the many things I missed was US food. Oddly, I gained 10 pounds from english food... I am guessing all the afternoon teas, cakes and dessert EVERY night. Either ways, I missed our food lots.

I really am interested as to what you are doing over there, how you are liking it and how long you will be there for! =)

Man-I feel like eating out instead of cooking dinner. Great list! I prefer a spicy chicken sandwich at Wendy's but hey, the burgers are good too. Have a good weekend!

Great list! We don't have an Olive Garden or Red Lobster in Alaska yet...I always have to go to one when we are in the lower 48. We are lucky though and have Applebees and Red Robin...all YUM! Hungry NOW!!!

It's amazing what we take for granted. And I'm amazed we have some of the same Restaurants here in Canada. Olive Garden rocks!!
